昭和生まれ、新興住宅地育ちの三人組。懐かしいようでいて何処にも無かった音楽を、バンド形式で唄って演奏する。日本各地の古い唄のフィールドワークや独自の“うたあそび”を元に奇跡的なバランス感覚で生みだされる彼らの音楽は、わらべうた・民謡・踊り念仏・アフロビート・世界各地のフォークロアが、まるで大昔からそうであったかのように自然に共存する。
2013年12月4日、待望の3rdアルバム「ゆりかご」をリリース。2012年リリースの2ndアルバム「ヒトのつづき」発売ツアーでは日本各地とNY でライブを行う。以降フェスやテレビ出演、大石始監修コンピ「DISCOVER NEW JAPAN 民謡ニューウェーブ vol.1」への参加や「太陽と星空のサーカス」公式アニメーションのサントラ製作など、急速に活動の幅を広げつつある。

The members of Bakuro-cho Band all grew up in suburbs in Showa era of Japan which means they know old school. Their music is nostalgic but still sounds like nothing else. They have researched old folk songs all over Japan and also they play their original “Uta-asobi (Playing with songs)”. When you listen to their music, you hear Japanese children’s songs/folk songs, Odori-Nenbutsu (Danceable Buddha invocation), Afro beat and other world’s folk songs in harmony as if it has been like that from ancient times.

On December 4th 2013, they released their very-anticipated 3rd album “Yurikago”. Following their 2nd release “Hito no Tsuzuki”, they toured all over Japan and even went to NY. Since then their appearances increased and they played at many festivals and some TV shows. They also had a song in Hajime Ohishi’s compilation album “DISCOVER NEW JAPAN vol.1” and produced the official sound track of this animation, “Circus of Sun and Starry sky”.
